The MAFBO at the IPPA 2014 Conference
The MAFBO project took part to the 20th Congress of the Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association (IPPA) 12-18 January 2014, Seam Reap, Cambodia. Four members of the project were present, including François-Xavier Ricaut, Antonio Guerreiro, Ruly Fauzi and Adhi Aghus.
- François-Xavier Ricaut presented a paper entitled “Maritime Diasporas in the Austronesian World: the Bajo sea nomads” at the session he co-organized with Bérénice Bellina-Pryce and Roger Blench, What recent archaeological, anthropological, historical and linguistic data tell us about the role of Southeast Asian populations in Indian Ocean maritime transfers.
- Ruly Fauzi and Michel Grenet presented “New Insights on the Late Pleistocene-Holocene Lithic Industries from East Kalimantan (Borneo)” (authored by Grenet M., Fauzi R., Sarel J., Oktaviana A.A., Ricaut F.-X.) at the session Pleistocene stone artefact technologies in East/Southeast Asia.
- Antonio Guerreiro gave a talk entitled “From Rock Art to Painted Boards: Culture Transmission and Conservation Policies in East Kalimantan Province, Indonesia” at the session Southeast Asian rock art site management and protection.
- Adhi Agus presented a paper “Aubert Comparative Study of Prehistoric Rock Art in East Kalimantan and South Sulawesi” (co-authored with Pindi Setiawan, Francois Xavier Ricaut, Budianto Hakim, Adam Brumm, Mubarak AP, Erlin Djami and Maxime Aubert) at the session Rock Art: A record of human interactions with the landscape.
